Bellamy and Hulse 2nd Graders are in the Spotlight Today!
Camryn B...legendary.

That's right.
Look at this.
She has a unique style in her drawings that naturally reveals itself. Notice the football. Look at the slight bit of purple there showing shadow. Man, looks like that teddy bear needs a hug. What a great expressive drawing.
Look at this other drawing of hers.

Do you see her style in both drawings? VERY COOL...
Look at the marks she has made.
These impressions remind us that our thoughts are important, AND...HOW we see the world and the life we live is important.
You are precious and unique. Do you realize that across all time, no one will ever have your thoughts? No one will ever carry your experiences? That is powerful if you think about it. You are important.
All of us are, but in our own ways. Try to see that in people.
There are so many people to meet and so many experiences waiting for you to discover. Camryn is leaving some great marks in the life of those around her.
What marks are we making?

Stand back and take notice!
Because drawing in the same room, not far from Camryn, is...
Beth.
She certainly views life in her own way. I love her drawings. This is one she drew from a still life of toys.
This drawing is a mixed media approach. That means she used different tools to get the picture completed.
She started with thick paper, pencil, and an eraser.
Once she got her line drawing in place, she used some markers to outline her pencil lines throughout the drawing.
Then she laid in her crayon work. Notice how she colored with her crayon. She stayed away from coloring in random scribbly directions and chose instead to color in cleaner, more controlled ways.
For example, look at the red floor. Those lines are all colored diagonally. This acheives a calmness to her drawing.
Finally, she finished her drawing by applying watercolor.
Maybe you can try a mixed media drawing at home?

Across the room, (in the company of Orlando, the hobbit, who has first and second breakfast) sits...
William.
I think it's cool that he chose to go vertical with his composition. In this underwater drawing he offers a great take on his view of an underwater world.
He has a vivid imagination and I enjoy hearing his conversations. That's right in the midst of all the children in the room I hear them. Some are very funny!
Shees...

Quietly sitting in the midst of the vivacious energy in the room is a smart and beautiful girl named...
June.
She is a great listener and I see her power and have not had as much time as I would like to mention how proud I am of her. She is great at drawing and she chose to draw this Bear and Bunny still life from her choices in the room.

Kind of like what this picture shows.
Great job June!

Allyson F.
Come on...look at her drawing of the dog. That is a hard angle to draw and you know what?
She nailed it! (In the midst of our nanny boo boo happenings!)
Remember, drawing is seeing!
Find something you can see at home that you love. Anything. Look at it closely.
Try to draw it just as you see it. This will build your skills in drawing.
Children, I was outside yesterday and it was amazing. Try to get out and draw something interesting today.
Much love,
Mr. Hale
