Well, we have started into the year with a strong start.
In Kindergarten, we've established the 5 lines of art and will use them as a foundation to build our communication of linear constructs in regards to building our confidence in drawing skills. We are also being the "boss" of our crayon.
So we start at the beginning...
Nice handiwork...
In first grade we are taking care of how line leads to shape with geometric, man-made shape designs. By tracing blocks we are building our compositional skills bit by bit.
Fantastic!
Beautiful.
In 2nd, we are trying to elevate from the prior knowledge base of the first two years in school by creating a story of an underwater scene with only our drawing power. We create linear pencil designs and then use mostly warm crayon colors to fill our figures with waxy crayon. Next we will apply watercolor...

I absolutely love it!
Must have a great art teacher...;)
Looks like she's ready to paint the cool watercolors...
In 3rd, we are asking ourselves, "How do I train my EYE to SEE the detail in a structure?" We seek to begin solving the riddle by drawing a familiar item, our shoe. The point is to see how the lines make the shapes and how the shapes reveal the form...
I thought this was a clever idea until I could smell everyone's feet. Yeah, it smelled like roses in here. Great drawing...
In 4th and 5th it's all about perspective drawing to build on the lessons that laid the foundation before. These kids have analyzed drawing through and through.
We plot to points, measure, adjust. We use math.
