Service to Others

Curriculum Update

In Reading, we are continuing to work on Inferring.  There will be a Read 4 Today assessment on Friday, November 21.

In Language Arts, we are working on verbs as well as capitalization and punctuation.  There will be a DOL test on Friday, November 21.

In Sitton Spelling, we are working on r-controlled vowels.  There will be a Sitton Spelling Assessment on Friday, November 21.

In Math, we are continuing to work on telling time.  There will be a Math 4 Today Assessment on Friday, November 21.

In Social Studies, we are continuing to work on Famous Georgians.  The students will be completing projects in class. There will be a vocabulary test on Friday, November 21.  We will also recite the poem on Friday.

Wednesday, November 19 is Stevie B's Night.

Friday, November 21 is Spirit Day.

Monday, November 24 to Friday, November 28 is Thanksgiving Holidays.  There is no school.

Curriculum Update

In Reading, we are continuing to work on the strategy of Inferring.  There will be a Read 4 Today Assessment on Friday, November 14.

In Language Arts, we will continue to work on nouns and Informational Writing.  There will be a DOL Assessment on Friday, November 14.

In Math, we will finish our unit on Subtraction with Regrouping.  Our next unit will be on Telling Time.  There will be a Math 4 Today assessment on Friday, November 14.

In Spelling, we will review long vowel sounds.  There will be a Sitton Spelling Assessment on Friday, November 14.

Our new Integrated Language Arts unit will be on Famous Georgians.  This will be a two week unit.  We will be studying Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, and James Ogelthorpe.

Curriculum Update

In Reading, we will begin the strategy of inferring.  There will be a Read 4 Today test on Friday.

Due to the short week, we will not begin a new Sitton Spelling Unit until next week.

In Language Arts, we will continue to work on capitalization and punctuation.  We are also working on nouns.  Our writing focus will be informational writing.

We will complete our Integrated Language Arts unit on Nutrition.  The students will take the vocabulary test and recite the poem on Friday.

In Math, we are continuing to work on 2-Digit Subtraction with regrouping.  There will be a Math 4 Today assessment on Friday.

In Reading, we are continuing to work on questioning, and reviewing other strategies.  There will be a Read 4 Today assessment on Friday, October 31.

In Spelling we will be reviewing contractions and homophones.  There will a Sitton Spelling Assessment on Friday.

In Language Arts, we are continuing to review Nouns.  There will be a DOL assessment over morning work sentences on Friday.

In Math, we are continuing to work on 2-digit subtraction with regrouping.  This is a very difficult concept.  Please practice at home.  There will be a Math 4 Today assessment on Friday.

In Integrated Language Arts, our current unit is Nutrition.  This will be a 2 week unit.  Your child needs to choose one poem to recite.  There are five to choose from.

Our Fall Jamboree will be this Friday.  Please send in your donations by Thursday.  The students will be participating in fun fall themed centers.  Thanks for your help!

In Spelling, we are continuing to work on homophones and suffixes.  There will be a Sitton Spelling Assessment on Friday.

In math, we will begin our unit on subtraction with and without regrouping.  There will be a Math 4 Today assessment on Friday.

Our next science unit will be on Motion.  The poem will still be Energy Rap.  There will be a vocabulary test on Friday.

Curriculum Update

In Reading, we will begin practicing the strategy of Questioning.  There will be a Read 4 Today assessment on Friday.

In Language Arts, we will continue to work on capitalization, punctuation and finding the Main Idea.  There will be DOL assessment on Friday.

Our new math unit is on Graphing.  The test is planned for Friday.  There will also be a Math 4 Today assessment on Friday.

In Integrated Language Arts, our next unit will be a science unit on Energy.  There will be a vocabulary test on Friday.

Reminders

Wednesday is an Early Release Day.  Dismissal is 2 hours early.

Report Cards will be sent home on Friday.  The new report card assesses mastery of the standards covered during the first 9 weeks.  Students no longer receive grades.  If you have any question, please feel free to contact me.

In Reading, the students have a choice of comprehension activities to complete independently.  There will be a Read 4 Today Assessment on Friday.

In Language Arts, we are continuing to work on capitalization and punctuation.  We will also be working on finding the main idea in narrative writing.  There will be a DOL assessment on Friday.

In Spelling, we will review suffixes and r-controlled vowels.  There will be a Sitton Spelling Assessment on Friday.

In Integrated Language Arts, we will continue to work on our Matter Unit.  Our focus will be changes in matter.  Please refer to pages 200-231 in the textbook.

In Math, we will complete our unit on Counting Money.  Our next unit will be on Graphing (Chapter 3).

Reading - We will begin the strategy of Visualizing this week.  We will continue to review Making Connections. There will be a Read 4 Today assessment on Friday.

Language Arts - We are continuing to work on narrative writing.  We will focus on Main Idea this week.  There will also be a DOL assessment over Morning Work sentences on Friday.

Spelling - Our unit this week will focus on long vowels, compound words, and suffixes.  There will be a Sitton Spelling assessment on Friday.

Integrated Language Arts - We will begin an exciting science unit on Matter.  Your child will need his / her science book for homework this week. There will be a test on the first part of the Matter unit on Friday.

Math - We will complete our unit on 2-Digit Addition on Tuesday.  The chapter assessment will be on Tueaday.  On Wednesday, we will begin Money.  There will be a Math 4 Today Assessment on Friday.

In Language Arts, we are continuing to work on personal narrative writing.  There will be a DOL test over morning work sentences on Friday.

In Spelling, we wil be focusing on r-controlled vowels as well as homophones. There will be a Sitton Spelling assessment on Friday.

In Math, we will continue to work on 2-digit addition with regrouping.  There is a Math 4 Today Assessment on Friday.

In Integrated Language Arts, we will be finishing our unit on Native Americans in Georgia.  Our focus this week will be on the Cherokee indians.

Language Arts

In Reading, we are continuing to work on text-to-text connections.  There will be a Read 4 Today assessment on Friday.

In Spelling, we are working on silent letters, and the long o sound.  There will be a Sitton Spelling Assessment on Friday.

We are working on narrative writing.  Our current topic is our "Best Birthday".

In grammar, we are continuing to work on capitalization and punctuation. There will be a DOL test over morning work sentences on Friday.

Math

We are working on addition strategies, as well as 2-digit addition with and without regrouping.

Integrated Language Arts

Our current unit of study is on the Creek and Cherokee Indians of Georgia.  This will be a two week unit.  The poem and vocabulary will remain the same.  We will recite the poem and take a vocabulary test on Friday, September 26.
