Requirements

It is recorder karate time again!  This is an exciting and fun way for the students to meet the Georgia Performance Standards of learning to play an instrument, to read and notate music, playing in an ensemble and making cross curricular connections.

For sanitary and health reasons, each student must have his/her own recorder for music class.  Recorders can be purchased at your local music store or here at the Chalker School Store on Wednesday mornings for $3.50.  Students will also need some kind of folder in which to put the music that I will give them in class and a pencil.

I know the students are very excited about starting the recorders again.  On the music web-page, there is a link to the Recorder Karate Dojo with the user-ID and password that is needed to access the site.  I encourage students to visit this website to practice with the music.   Play Away!

LGPE

The Large Group Performance Evaluation is a wonderful opportunity for the Chalker Chorus students to perform two songs of varying repertoire for a set of three judges, one clinician, and other children's choirs in the district.  The choirs are rated on the various aspects of their musical performance and then the overall grade is given.  It is an exciting occasion for these students to perform and to observe other choirs.

Performance Evaluation

This year the Performance Evaluation (formerly known as festival) will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta. The Chalker Chorus will be performing on Thursday February 16th at 11:45 a.m. You are invited to attend this performance. At 10:25 the students will eat lunch together in the cafeteria and at 11:00 be taken by bus from the school to the church. After the performance the chorus will return to school by 1:45 p.m. The chorus members are to wear and bring the following: · Chalker T-shirt · Black pants or skirt · Black socks and shoes · Sack lunch in a disposable container · please only water or juice to drink The students have diligently prepared for this concert and I am extremely proud of all of them.
