The fourth and fifth grade Target classes will be completing a study of sharks for the remainder of the year. This is typically a high interest topic for the students. A major component of this unit is the dissection of the Dogfish shark. In order for a student to dissect, they must show understanding of the shark and its body. The students will be given three different tests on the shark and they must get a 90% or better on each test to be able to complete the dissection activity. We want students and parents to be aware of the expectations for this unit, so we would like for each parent and child to sign the permission sheet to relay that you are all aware of the expectations and dates of the various tests. The students will be given study sheets to help them study for the test.
In addition, if you would not like for your child to participate in dissection, please let us know. They will still be required to take the tests. However, on the day of dissection, they will be provided with an alternative activity to complete at Chalker. We will be completing the dissection at Lassiter High School
