Week of September 29th

Hello,

Thank you to all of the parents who donated snacks for our class during the ITBS testing this week.  Your generosity was greatly appreciated.

Classroom

Our room mom is Mrs. Robyn Jordan, and she is sending home information about our Fall Festival on Saturday, October 25th.  To help raise money each class is putting together a themed basket of "goodies" for the silent suction.  If you can donate any items please contact her at rjordan@nalleycars.com.

Test dates:

The students will have a science test on Monday

There will be a DOL test on Thursday

There will be a math test on chapters 4 and 5 (graphs) on Thursday

The students will have a review test on nouns and abbreviations on Friday

The students will have a spelling test on Friday

What is next:

Thank you to the parents who have donated inexpensive items to our personal class auction, which is given at end of each quarter.  The first nine weeks are approaching, and the students are eager to spend their hard earned money.  Any other cool inexpensive gifts are greatly needed.

Social Studies:

We are finally moving into the Civil War.  Many of the students are excited, but some of the material can be heavy and complex.  Any extra reading or research on the Civil War at home would be helpful as we transition into this subject.

Math:

Multiplying whole numbers and decimals.  Please urge your child to study his or her multiplication facts!!

ITBS Testing

Hello,

The ITBS test will take place next week Monday-Friday.  This test will be taken in the morning, and each test will be no more than 60-75 minutes long.  Therefore, I am asking that each student receive a nutritious breakfast and a good night's sleep.  Letters will be sent home to to request donated snacks for this week.  If you are able to donate a snack please let me know (no snacks with peanuts please), and thank you for your help!

The students will have a test on the three branches of gov, the Bill of Rights, the amendments that represent democracy, our U.S. motto, due process, and becoming an active citizen. This test will be on Thursday.

Farina's test will be on Friday.

The students are almost done with their "Expert Book."  They will be asked to complete some of this project at home.  This project is due on Friday.

CogAT Week

Next week we will have the CogAT testing Wed-Fri.  This test will measure the students' cognitive ability.  These results will not be factored into the students' weekly or into their report card.  During this time please make sure that your child has a nutritional breakfast and a sufficient amount of sleep.

Tuesday: Please remember that this day is an early release day.

Thursday (Test on Nouns) this test was rescheduled

Friday- Spelling/ DOL

The students will have a "Bill of Rights" comic strip that is due to me by Thursday (this assignment was also rescheduled).  The students needed more time completing it;therefore, it should be neatly written, colored, and completed by Thursday.

Health- The students will have a test on chapter 1.  The date for this test has not been set due to the early release and the CogAT testing.  This information will be posted once the CogAt testing schedule is received.

Open House
