The 2008-2009 school year is off to a terrific start. The counselors have begun introductory lessons in their classrooms. Third grade students will begin lessons in study skills in September by meeting Howard B. Wigglebottom.
Be sure to ask your child about the listening skills he or she is learning in guidance class. We will also learn about, following directions, paying attention, using time wisely and not disturbing others.
With the holiday season approaching, the students at Chalker Elementary will have many opportunities to show kindness to others. In October, the children brought in canned goods during Red Ribbon Week. Thirteen boxes of canned goods were donated to a local food pantry! They were most appreciated.
In November, we will begin our annual Angel Tree Holiday Assistance program sponsored by the PTA. More information will be coming home about the Angel Tree in the coming weeks. If you are a family in need of assistance this holiday season, please contact the Guidance Office at (678) 494-7624.
The 2006-2007 school year is off to a terrific start. The children have been doing a wonderful job of making new friends and learning the routines of their classroom.
I look forward to meeting many new parents at our Open House on August 31st.
I will begin classroom guidance on August 30th with an introductory lesson for my new kindergarten friends.
