We are having fun in art!
Currently Ms. Taylor is teaching all classes. Her lessons for this rotation are broken down here by grade level. She is using an oriental theme to approach her lesson constructions.
Kindergarten-
The children are drawing a teacher directed drawing of a dragon, which is later fan folded to create an oriental fan. The children are creating their designs with crayon and pencils.
1st Grade-
First grade is working on the creation of an oriental scroll. Examples from China and Japan are illustrated and used as inspiring works. We use these artworks as a departure point for creating our own scrolls.
2nd grade-
These children are finishing their Matisse shape designs and Arcimboldo art portraits from the prior rotation.
3rd grade-
These children are finishing their printmaking from the prior lessons.
4th grade-
They are in the process of creating a ceramic dragon using clay and oriental sculpture design.
5th grade-
These children are creating paper lanterns using characters from Japan and China in the creation of their text, which is hand painted into the design of their lantern. We strongly inform these children that the paper lanterns do not use any candles or fire at any time. It is not a functional artwork. Instead it is a decorative artwork!
We will update more in the future as we work toward ironing out the kinks for video and jpeg files to show you all of the cool art that has been created.
Thanks,
Mr. Hale
