Happy!! Happy!!

* We are looking forward to our holiday party this Friday, December 18th at 12:51-2:15. Thanks so much for your donations. This will let our room moms create a wonderful festive time for all! If you have not brought in your wrapped book labeled "boy" or "girl" please do so ASAP. I look forward to seeing whomever can join us on Friday! :-)

* I wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy, peaceful, and prosperous holiday season. Take some time to spend with your precious families. We have no work/projects due over the holiday break, except of course to read. Enjoy and be safe!! See you in 2010!

*The last day for grades this 2nd grading period is this Friday, December 18th. As per county policy, report cards will not be distributed until conference week, which takes place 1/25-1/29. If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to answer them for you, as that is a few weeks into the third grading period already!!

Class Spelling Bee/Holiday Party!

*Congrats to our winner, Cameron Davis, and our alternate ,Julia Trahan! It was a great competition with good sportsmanship. I know Cameron will reperesent us well in the school level bee in January!

* Be on the lookout in this Friday's folder for a letter from our room moms regarding our holiday party. It will take place on Friday, December 18th from 12:55-2:15. All donations and books for the exchange will be due to Mrs. Cavaliere no later than Friday, December 11th. Mark your calendars for a fun and festive time. All parents are invited!

*12/1- We have a lunch and specials change due to 4th grade Fire Safety...

*Our class Spelling Bee will be held on December 1st. The children cannot prepare for this, as I will be selecting random words. Good lucK to all!

*Our class trip to the symphony is coming up on Tuesday, December 8th. Everyone has already turned in permission slips/donations for this performing arts field trip.

* Our class holiday party has not been scheduled as of yet. I am assuming it will be in the afternoon of Friday, December 18th. I will be getting together with our room moms to plan the special event, and we will be sending out info. ASAP!

* I want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for a lot of things, including all of my wonderful children and parents this year!

* Picture make up day has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th at 10:00 A.M. for our class. If you have already turned in your money, we have been keeping it safe in the vault. If you are still interested in purchasing your child's picture you may turn in the money the morning of the 6th.

*The Boosterthon Fun Run Fundraiser is in full swing. Don't forget to make your pledges online. Go Cavaliere Chargers! All checks should be made out to Chalker PTA. Thanks for your support!! Don't forget to join us, parents, for the actual fun run on October 8th from 10:30 A.M.-11:40. it should be a blast!

* Thanks so much for your help in making our class the 1st place winner in 5th grade for 100% PTA membership! The kids will enjoy a pizza/popsicle party on Tuesday, October 6th at 11:30. They probably will not need a heavy lunch that day. Maybe just some fruit or something light!

* Don't forget we have started our new October A.R. reading goal which is due on October 30th. Your child must acquire 3, 5, or 7 pts. There are all kinds of new A.R. incentives this year such as different color dog tags and t-shirts! A pamphlet will go home Friday with this info!

* The last day for grades this nine weeks is Friday, October 9th. Report cards will be sent home on the 16th in your child's Friday folder.

* Our class has had some difficulty with controlling their talking and socializing in school. Please have a talk with your child about the importance of focusing and paying attention in school. Fifth grade is an important and challenging year. You have a great bunch of children, but I do need to keep my thumb on them frequently!

Kell Jr. Basketball team.

  Reminder: Ident-A-Kid

This Friday, August 21, the Ident-A-Kid
program will be at Chalker.

Participants receive a card with their
child’s photo, fingerprints, and other
identifying information that could save
authorities precious time if your child is
ever reported missing.

Statistics show that 150 children are abducted daily.

Having the Ident-A-Kid card could provide
some peace of mind.

What a terrific first week we have had! The children have quickly settled into routines, and we are looking forward to a productive year.

Thanks to all of the wonderful parents for sending in all the needed supplies, forms, etc. We will work as a partnership this year, to ensure that your child is successful and is adequately prepared for middle school.

Continue to reinforce respect, character education , organizational skills, good study habits, and building confidence, and there is nothing your child cannot do!

I am enjoying the different personalities in the classroom, and the children have definetly taken those first steps toward bonding as a unified group. Tolerance and acceptance are two things we will continue to practice daily throughout the school year.

Welcome to school year 2009/2010!

Welcome to fifth grade!! I am Mrs. Cavaliere, your teacher! I am looking forward to a year filled with smiles, learning, and adventure!

             You are now the oldest in the school, and with this comes a certain amount of privilege and responsibility. Remember that you are positive role models for the rest of the younger students.

             This blog is the place where you need to check frequently, for upcoming tests, quizzes, projects, and important announcements and information.

            Fifth grade is a challenging, yet fun year. A big part of your success will be your attitude. You will get way more out of this year, if you remain positive and focused. Remember, I am always here to help and guide you every step of the way.

            The first week of school we will strive to get organized, get to know each other, and bond together so we can form a community type of classroom. We will all need to work together throughout the next ten months.
